The tfz is delighted to introduce a new member from the biotech and longevity sector: SymBioVault, a start-up dedicated to the secure biobanking of the personal microbiome.
The challenge: a fragile balance The human microbiome – the totality of the microorganisms that colonise our bodies – is highly individual and sensitive. A single course of antibiotics can disrupt this balance for months or even years. Generic probiotics often fail because they do not match an individual’s ‘microbial fingerprint’.
The solution: biobanking modelled on umbilical cord blood storage. SymBioVault enables people to collect, analyse and securely preserve their healthy microbiome today – as lifelong biological capital for tomorrow.
Three key principles
• Personal & autologous: Your own microbiome is secured as an individual, lifelong resource – the ultimate in personalised healthcare.
• Secure & in your control: Storage is carried out in accordance with Swiss biobanking standards, with patients retaining full ownership of their data and a digital ‘Microbiome Passport’ for personalised insights.
• Future-proof: Storage is carried out with a view to future scientific advances in the fields of longevity, microbial restoration and personalised wellbeing.
The team behind SymBioVault
SymBioVault was founded by Dr Pavel Timofeev, a doctor with over 15 years’ international experience in clinical development. His pioneering work on antibiotic resistance and the long-term effects of antibiotics on the human microbiome convinced him that a better approach was needed – the basis for the founding of SymBioVault.
Why this is relevant to our network
SymBioVault exemplifies what the tfz aims to highlight at the interface between business, technology and research: an innovation that combines medical expertise, new biobanking technology and tangible benefits for individual health.
We warmly welcome SymBioVault to the tfz network and look forward to professional exchanges with the team
