The Zug economic area is considered one of the most attractive technology locations in Switzerland. This year's edition of tfz Start-Up Insights at the Lorzensaal in Cham proved that this reputation is well deserved. With a focus on robotics, we connected international start-ups with experts and C-level personalities from established companies in our network in order to actively promote technology transfer in the region.
In addition to the innovations presented by the start-ups, Vincent Revol (CSEM) offered an interesting perspective in his keynote speech ‘Robotics: The toolbox for the future’. He made it clear that robotics today is much more than a technical gimmick: it is a strategic response to the shortage of skilled workers and a decisive factor in the competitiveness of local companies. Revol dispelled the preconception that robotics is purely a dream of the future and presented it as a ready-to-use toolkit for today's industry.
The participating start-ups impressively demonstrated the diversity of this toolbox during their pitches on stage. In the accompanying trade exhibition, our guests were able to experience the innovations from the following start-ups first-hand: Ascento, UniteLabs, coprod LLC, AIRSKIN, red cable robots, Unchained Robotics, LAYERED, Cartken, IONO Robotics
Direct exchanges at the exhibition stands enabled participants to examine the solutions in detail and discuss possible applications in their own companies.
The centrepiece of the morning was the structured ‘Collaboration Matchmaking’ event. We are delighted to have been able to curate a total of 111 targeted matches this year. In these personal discussions, the start-ups met with experienced decision-makers and experts from the regional economy. The intensive technical discussions, in which the first foundations for future collaborations and pilot projects were laid, showed that the motto ‘From idea to application’ is bearing fruit.
For us at Technologie Forum Zug, this event has once again demonstrated the value of cross-industry dialogue. The positive response to the topic of robotics confirms the need for companies not only to understand new technologies, but also to actively implement them in practice.
We would like to thank all participants, start-ups, experts, guests, partners and sponsors for this inspiring morning and look forward to accompanying the further development of the contacts that have been made.
