Once again this year, Zug Innovation Day provides the canton of Zug with a festive platform for the presentation of the official Zug Innovation Award. With this award, the Zug Cantonal Government supports the efforts of companies that create new jobs or safeguard existing ones through innovations that are economically, socially and environmentally sound since 1993. The winning company of the prize, which is endowed with CHF 10,000, will be announced and honoured in person by Councillor Silvia Thalmann-Gut.
Whilst the Technology Forum Zug (tfz) is setting the stage for this ceremony, the call for entries, judging and awarding of the prize are entirely the responsibility of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Zug.
The future casts its shadow ahead. As Switzerland’s leading futurologist, Georges T. Roos analyses the megatrends that will shape the economy and society of tomorrow. CSEM is a public-private, non-profit Swiss technology innovation centre. Through its innovations and the development and transfer of technologies of global significance, CSEM promotes competitiveness in Swiss industry.
With over 1,200 staff, the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA (Fraunhofer IPA) is one of the largest institutes within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Its total budget amounts to 95 million euros. The institute’s research focuses on organisational and technological aspects of production. It develops, tests and implements not only components, devices and processes, but also entire machines and production lines.
The 19 departments are coordinated across six business areas, which work together on an interdisciplinary basis with the following sectors: the automotive industry, mechanical and plant engineering, electronics and microsystems, energy, medical technology and biotechnology, and the process industry. The Fraunhofer IPA’s research activities are aimed at the cost-effective manufacture of sustainable and personalised products.
Edge AI directly on the device Powerful and flexibly scalable embedded systems are becoming increasingly important for industrial and medical technology. Iftest is responding to this trend with state-of-the-art carrier boards that serve as the basis for sophisticated edge AI applications. Intelligent algorithms are executed directly on the device, for example in industrial controllers, machine control systems or medical devices. A cloud connection is not strictly necessary for this. This reduces latency, increases reliability and ensures that sensitive data is processed locally and remains protected.

In the Impact Space, urban planning becomes a multi-sensory experience. In this innovative project by HSLU, you can use multi-user mixed reality to immerse yourself interactively in future urban scenarios alongside other visitors. HSLU’s additional mixed-reality auralisation also makes the transformation of our surroundings audible, linking visual planning with simulated acoustics.
